A Melbourne cocktail bar like no other
Hidden in the side streets of leafy Eltham in Melbourne’s North, Naught is a speakeasy-style gin bar and distillery that transports you to another time and place. Upon entering the venue, Naught encourages you to become playfully wicked yet distinctly elegant.
Drawing inspiration from the early twentieth-century colloquial term ‘Naught’, meaning “lost, ruined, wicked”, our cocktail bar was designed by well-known interior design company, Studio Y. Described by our owner, Chris Cameron, as an “ode to feminine beauty”, the space showcases graceful artwork, stately wallpapers, plush velvet chairs and intimate leather booths that allow guests to admire the art of the bartenders as if they were viewing a theatre show of cocktail making. Our speakeasy bar doesn’t have any windows which makes the experience all the more encompassing and diners can be easily transported to a world without the concept of time passing by.

A cocktail bar by gin experts
Our dried Australian botanicals that sprawl across the arched roof creates an immersive canopy that leads to a giant copper still, which acts as an altar within the bar and will no doubt become a talking point for all who visit. This subtle homage to the local botanicals used in Naught’s gins reminds guests that our cocktail bar is attached to a fully functioning gin distillery and offers a unique insight into the production of our unique Australian-made gin.
Sip your way through our extensive cocktail list
All of Naught’s cocktails exclusively feature either our Australian Dry, Sangiovese or Overproof Gin and soon our new Classic Dry. Presented like a storybook that aims to transport guests to 1920s New York, our menu opens with a ‘Tasting Flight’ which allows patrons to try three of our best-selling gins. Our ‘Basil Collins’ is a fresh take on an old classic and our ‘Saturn’ is topped with a dome of passionfruit-flavoured smoke that bursts as you drink it, leaving a theatrical mist behind. The ‘HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA’A’ cocktail is also not to be missed. If pronounced correctly upon ordering, guests can score it for free, but if not, they’ll be made to pay double, in true playfully wicked style.
Sample our range of local delights
Accompanying our lengthy cocktail menu is an array of sharing delights, ranging from cheese and charcuterie boards which showcase local product to something more substantial with our slow-cooked meatballs topped with Grana Padano and fresh basil, and served with toasted sourdough,
